One Day National Seminar On "Role of Digital as well as Printed Sources in Social Sciences" held at Baring Union Christian College Batala On March 25, 2017
Under the competent guidance of the Principal Prof. Dr. Edward Masih, the library department organized a National Seminar on “Role of Digital as well as Printed Seminar in Social Sciences.” on March 25,2017. Ms. Ranjana, Librarian of the College was the convener of the seminar. The Chief Guest Dr. Derick Engles, Hon, Secretary, BUCCA. Dr. H.S Chopra, head/ University Librarian (Fr.)Bhai Gurdas Library GND University the Keynote speaker, graced the occasion with their presence and valuable thoughts.
The Principal extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and other guests and honors Dr. Derick Engles and Dr. H.S Chopra.
The programme was inaugurated with the lightening of the lamp and blessings of the Almighty were invoked with a prayer. After a brief introduction about the seminar, the principal addressed the audience. In his address, he emphasized the importance of learning attitude. Dr. Derick Engles’s address ensued the principal’s address .Dr Derick Engles focused on the role of library in educational institutions and importance of digitization in libraries. Then Ms. Ranjana read the report on the library of the college. After the report, Dr. H.S. Chopra delivered his Keynote address. Dr. Chopra stressed on the need of updating libraries with the changing times. He opine that university/ college teachers and librarians should make a collective effort to cub plagiarism, which is spreading like an epidemic, in the session; Number of participants came from various places Amritsar, Jalandher, Taran-Taran, Patiala, Mukandpur ect. Various presenters presented their papers and expressed their ideas on the topic. The presenters raised impotent questions in response to the deferent presentation which let to useful discation.
